New music genre unfolds here
"Cross Sound", a music festival planned for Juneau this weekend features 15 artists, including 5 composers from four continents. Cross Sound Co-Producer Jocelyn Clark, who was among the guests on today's edition of KINY's Capital Chat, said the production is about crossing traditional boundaries of national and musical borders. The composers are from Japan, Korea, Europe, North America and Australia. The musicians include 7 local musicians. Concerts are tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon. It's at 8:00pm tomorrow at the Northern Light Church and at 3:00pm Sunday at Chapel By The Lake. A pre-concert lecture begins an hour prior to each concert. Tickets are $12 and $10 dollars for students and seniors, and are available at local bookstores or at the door. State's most famous piano returns home
The piano that was used to compose the Alaska Flag Song has been returned to a historic Skagway home. The piano had been a fixture at the Moore House earlier this century, when the song was composed, but was moved to the Alaska State Museum in 1979.
